Trine Giaever
The artist received a BA from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MA from the New York Academy of Art. Working across painting, illustration, and printmaking, their practice reflects a background in editorial graphics, combining visual storytelling with a graphic expressionist sensibility.
Earlier in their career, they worked as a full-time artist in the editorial graphics departments of The New York Daily News and The Associated Press, experiences that continue to inform an intuitive and immediate approach to image-making. They also produce freelance illustrations for scientific publications.
Their work has been exhibited at Sotheby’s, Oslo City Hall in Norway, the Sasse Museum of Art in Pomona, the Center for Contemporary Printmaking in Norwalk, Powerhouse Arts in Brooklyn, and the Edward Hopper House Museum & Study Center, among other venues. The artist is a member of the National Association of Women Artists (NAWA) and was a member of Pleiades Gallery in Chelsea. They live and work in the Hudson Valley, New York.
